🍁 Homemade Maple Mint Candy Recipe
This simple, healthy recipe uses only pure maple syrup and natural mint to create melt-in-your-mouth candies with no refined sugar or additives.
🧴 Ingredients
- 1 cup pure maple syrup (Grade A dark or amber preferred)
- 2–3 tablespoons fresh mint leaves, finely chopped or ½ teaspoon mint extract (alcohol-free preferred)
🍳 Equipment
- Candy thermometer
- Small saucepan (heavy-bottomed preferred)
- Silicone candy mold or parchment-lined tray
- Small whisk or spatula
🔥 Instructions
- Infuse the mint (if using fresh leaves):
Gently heat the maple syrup over medium-low heat with the chopped mint leaves. Let it simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then strain out the mint. - Boil to hard crack stage:
Raise heat to medium. Clip a candy thermometer to the side. Boil without stirring until syrup reaches300°F (149°C)
. - Add extract (if not using leaves):
Remove from heat and stir in mint extract if using. - Pour into molds:
Pour hot syrup into molds or onto parchment paper in rounds. - Cool and set:
Let harden for 20–30 minutes. Pop from molds or break into shards.
🍬 Storage
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 months. Use parchment or cornstarch between layers to avoid sticking.
Tip: For a creamier maple sugar texture, stir syrup vigorously at 200°F before pouring.
